History
The Malabar strain was first discovered in the Malabar coast located in southwestern India in the 1980’s. The history of magic mushrooms in Indian culture can be traced back to 1500 BC. In the Rigveda, one of four sacred texts part of Hindu and Zoroastrian traditions; a reference to a substance called Soma. In one reference it states: “We have drunk Soma and become immortal; we have attained the light, the Gods discovered.” Ever since it’s discovered, the strain has been popular among the psychedelic community.
Characteristics
Cap: Curved on top, usually features a golden brown color and fades to light beige/tan towards the edges. The interior flesh is white but bruises blue when exposed to air. Once fully mature, the cap is plane in shape.
Gills: Initially grey, but darkens to purple and then black as it ages. Amature specimens will have veils connected to the gills, which will fully detach once the specimen matures.
Stem: Long, thick and fleshy, with white and beige color but bruises blue when touched or damaged.
Spore color: Dark purple
